My Experience cont.

When I spent time in my mother's classroom, I was able to hang out with a group of little girls in the home center. I remember this was my favorite center when I was in school. I always dressed up in the clothes and played the mother. These girls were not playing like I remembered my friends playing. The roles they chose to play were not the "traditional" family roles. I know that the idea of a traditional family has changed over the last years, but I had no idea that children were not playing "mommy, daddy, and kids" anymore. The girls were playing mommy and kids or big sister and kids. There was no mention of a father figure. This floored me.
